I see. Well, that sounds a lot cheaper. FWIW, I replaced my bridge control cables with TFXtreme #CC63310. They were cheap. I have hull #47, with a TAMD40B, so not sure if yours would be the same. Description here: http://maintenance.mariner2.net/2007/10/shift.html

Joe - Thanks for the link and info. I plan to replace my cables with the same. FYI to you and Ed any one else following this discussion - I took the handbearing compass off my boat and brought it home to test the cables that I removed. As per Ed's comments earlier, they definitely have been magnetized somehow or other. Once I move the handheld close to them, it deflects significantly from the correct reading. Hard to undestand how this came about, but at this time it's time to move on to other projects.
