When we bought Eilishe here interior was almost black and heavily water stained. I tried a variety of different methods and found the best to be Simple Green and a green 3M pad. The pad provides a little abrasive and the Simple Green dissolves the old oil. Let it dry and then sand lightly. Apply new teak oil and it looks brand new. I am about 35% done but what a difference. Looks brand new.

Was the OEM Cape Dory interior teak oiled? Mine is also dark, but it looks like it may have been varnished. Where can I buy a green 3M pad?

Hi David:
Mine definitely was. The oil will get hard like varnish over time.
Home Depot or hardware store is a good place.
My interior was mostly Mahogany.
