Good post. I am in the market for a replacement helms chair as well. Mine wobbles a lot, mostly due to the design.

Question: do other original helm's chair wobble a lot, or it is just mine? My table post is the same way.

Mine doesn't wobble but the leg is about two inches too short so you are cocked to port while sitting at the helm. Seems to be an odd design.

Mine wobbles a bunch. I am also looking at a replacement helm chair as well. Any suggestions form other who have replaced theirs?

On a side note: My table uses the same pole-inside-pole design as the helm chair. It wobbles a bunch too. But we used the double berth all the time so I need to keep it unless/until I can think of some other arrangement.

My captain's chair is the same design I have seen on the open sport CD 28 where there is a U-shaped tube/pipe that rests on the deck and the chair is attached to the cabin wall in a slide bracket. The tube/pipe is too short so I list to port.
